The Internet Time Machine Interview

Looking for a niche is the most vital part of starting your own website or blog. Lucky enough, there are plenty of websites and software or tools that can help you with this task. Here are some things you may want to keep in mind while looking for niches.

You see, niches can be either of the two – Really competitive or not so competitive. Being a competitive niche means getting quite a number of audience or readers, this results in a heavier traffic, and in turn results in more profit. On the other hand, those with less competition does not mean less profit, it could just mean, it is more refined, unique and traffic here are usually more specific.

One thing you need to keep in mind with online businesses or any kind of business, is that, you need to spend a lot of time and effort on it. Passion in what you do, may be a big key to your success.

What Should You Find In a Niche?

Competition

No Competition, may not be such good news, because this could also mean, very little is interested or worse – no one is interested at all. Looking for a niche market you can compete in would be a good idea. Aiming for a #1 ranking on Google on that certain niche may not be necessary, but you need to make it a point to rank well enough to have a fair share of the profits from that particular market.

Money Making

How do you plan to earn from your website is another thing to think about. Do you want to sell something, how much competition are you facing? How much should your service or products cost? Can you get the customers you need to buy what you sell?

A Strong Audience

The audience is like the blood that flows through your veins, without it, your business won’t survive. Finding a niche that has a strong and active audience is a huge plus factor. You can get more activity on your site with the help of active audience. Your link can also get spread around through word-of-mouth if people are really pleased with what you are offering them. Websites that have very little followers can mean that there aren’t too much audience there.

Domain Names

It is also important to be able to pick a website name that people can easily remember. You should spend some time in looking for a domain that suits your taste and can be easily remembered as it could be quite difficult nowadays.

Time span

Picking a niche that goes too much with the flow may not be too healthy. In picking to blog about a certain movie perhaps, you could risk losing some of your audience once that fad has passed because this is a niche that is short lived. You can choose to write about a movie genre instead.

Promoting in the Community

Once you have launched your work of art, looking for a place to let people know about it may be a great marketing idea. It would be a good idea to choose a niche that relates to what you are selling. You can also use online groups like forums and social networking sites.
